Library Settlement Partnerships (LSP)
Did you know your public library has FREE resources to support your English learning, job searching and career help, help with children’s school studies, information about your community and services, opportunities to meet friends, and have fun with your family?
Together with public libraries in York Region, LSP delivers newcomer-friendly information sessions and support groups at various library branches close to your home. These group sessions focus on three categories:
·Settlement-related: overview of Canada, housing, health care, local transit and transportation system, tenants' rights and responsibilities, Service Canada services, Health Care System, Taxation system, personal finance, parenting, Citizenship, important documents, who does what in your city/town, personal safety and police services, etc.
Library Resource related: Explore Your Library, using library resources for job search, skills training, school success and family fun, choosing good books for your children, orientation to library's e-resources and STEAM/makers programming, etc.
Various support groups for newcomer youth, seniors, and English language learners.
All the sessions are at no cost to you.
